Latchkey kid: dùng để chỉ một đứa trẻ còn ở độ tuổi đi học, trở về nhà trong một ngôi nhà trống không vì cha mẹ hoặc người giám hộ của chúng không có mặt hoặc bận đi làm. Thuật ngữ này bắt nguồn từ chiếc chìa khóa (thường được gắn vào dây buộc) mà đứa trẻ mang theo để tự vào nhà sau giờ học.
