Faux pas: có nguồn gốc từ tiếng Pháp (= false step), đề cập đến một sai sót ngớ ngẩn, một hành động đáng xấu hổ hoặc thiếu tế nhị trong các nghi thức xã hội.
“Faux pas” có thể xảy ra trong nhiều bối cảnh xã hội khác nhau, chẳng hạn như trong các cuộc trò chuyện, hành vi, thái độ, cách cư xử hoặc các lỗi ăn mặc. Thường thì hành động này là vô tình nói ra hoặc làm điều gì đó không phù hợp, nhạy cảm, không phù hợp với văn hóa, phong tục của một cộng đồng nhất định.
